During the thirties Turkey started a rebuilding program on their rifles at Ankara.  All rifles were rebuilt to the configueration of the M1893 with M93 front sight, bayonet lug and lower barrel band.  These guns are refered to as M38's but I do not understand the model designation as the rebuilding started before that as seen with some of the guns below.

Turkish from M88 Comission - 1937- Barrel sleeve has been removed
and it has been fitted with a new stock and handguard.


Turkish from M93 - 1934 - This is the standard M93 configueration except
for the bolt washer in the stock.  Receiver has metal notched so 8mm round
can be inserted.

The Turks converted many bayonets from different countries to fit their rifles.
